Introducing Aico Homelink’s smart home technology

Smarter and healthier homes with Aico HomeLINK

When it comes to making homes safer, healthier, and more energy-efficient, smart technology is a powerful tool. Aico’s HomeLINK sensors provide real-time environmental monitoring, helping homeowners track temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels—all crucial for maintaining a comfortable and sustainable living space.

At Propflo, we’ve integrated HomeLINK sensors into our HomeHub platform to provide homeowners with data-driven insights that optimise energy efficiency, prevent common household issues, and validate retrofit improvements.

The Propflo HomeHub

Why it matters

We spend 90% of our time indoors, and indoor air quality can have a profound impact on health, well-being, and home efficiency. Excess humidity can lead to mould and damp issues, while high CO2 levels can cause fatigue, headaches, and poor concentration. Poor ventilation allows indoor pollutants to build up, aggravating allergies and respiratory conditions. By continuously monitoring these factors, homeowners can take proactive steps to improve air circulation, reduce condensation, and maintain a healthier home.

At the same time, while Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) provide an estimate of a home’s energy efficiency, they don’t track actual energy performance. A retrofit, such as improving insulation, ventilation, or heating solutions, can enhance efficiency—but how do you know if it’s working? HomeLINK sensors provide ongoing data on temperature stability, heat retention, and ventilation quality, ensuring that energy-saving upgrades are performing as expected and helping homeowners make informed decisions about further improvements.

How it works

Aico’s HomeLINK sensors are simple to install and can be placed in key areas throughout the home. Living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens are ideal locations due to fluctuating temperature and CO2 levels, while bathrooms should be prioritised for humidity control to prevent damp and mould issues. A HomeLINK gateway is required to connect the sensors to HomeHub, ensuring seamless data transmission and analysis.

"HomeLINK sensors are designed for simple installation and seamless integration with smart home systems. The gateway ensures real-time data transmission, while the sensors can be placed in key areas without invasive wiring. A typical setup requires just a few strategically placed sensors to provide comprehensive coverage, making it an easy and effective way to improve home health and efficiency."

A Real-World Impact: Annie’s Story

One homeowner, Annie, used Propflo’s HomeHub and HomeLINK sensors to uncover unexpected insulation gaps in her home. Despite living in a new build, Annie’s sensors flagged mid-level draught and heat loss risks, prompting her to conduct a thermal imaging survey.

With this data, Annie took cost-effective action, sealing leaks and improving insulation—all for just £10 in DIY materials. The online HomeHub then tracked the impact, confirming that her home’s energy efficiency had significantly improved. Read Annie’s full case study here
