Terms and conditions – Net Zero Heat – phase 2 project

Terms and conditions - Net Zero Heat - phase 2 project

1. Project Overview:

1.1 These terms and conditions govern the participation of homeowners in the ‘Net Zero Heat – Phase 2′ project (“the Project”). The Project involves using the Propflo platform (including the GreenVal retrofit tool and the HomeHub) to facilitate third-party suppliers making energy-efficient improvements to participants’ properties, including discounts on solar panels, batteries, and heat pumps. Participants will also receive free smart home sensors, a smart thermostat, two thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), and a post-improvement Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

1.2 The Project started on the 1st November 2023 and will finish on the 31st March 2025. Any benefits will cease to apply at the project end date. If improvements won’t be completed by the Project end date then the benefits may be withdrawn at the Projects discretion.

2. Selection, eligibility and incentives:

2.1 Registering for interest in the project does not grant an automatic right to take part in the Project and the Project can choose to refuse service.

2.2 Selection of participants will be based on a number of factors including the impact of works (for example, participants wanting solar panels, batteries and a heat pump will be prioritised over just solar panels), timing (installations must take place before the end of the project to receive full incentives).

2.3 Participants must be owners of the property (i.e. homeowners and landlords). In the case of a landlord, tenants must also give permission to share data (outlined in section 4).

2.4 Discounts for solar panels (£700), batteries (£200 each), and heat pumps (£700) will be applied directly by the suppliers where applicable.

2.5 When you purchase improvements you will be entering into separate agreements with third party suppliers. You should do your own due diligence and get alternative quotes if needed.

2.6 Participants ideally will be planning to carry out green home improvements (including solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps, windows or doors) before March 2025, but if selected this is not a strict requirement to receive free smart home sensors, a smart thermostat, two thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), and a post-improvement EPC. Funding for smart home devices and the EPC is provided by Innovate UK, a UK government agency. They is no purchase necessary for these devices or services.

2.7 The Project will not tolerate gaming of incentives; i.e. agreeing to take part to get a discount on improvements then immediately withdrawing or not engaging with the project (such as not having smart home devices installed). At the project leads discretion, participation may be terminate as outlined in section 6.

3. Accreditation and Liability:

3.1 Suppliers have relevant industry accreditations. They will operate their own or industry warranties and insurance-backed guarantees. You should check these prior to payment to ensure you are aware of the limits of these protections.

3.2 The Project, Propflo (the project lead), project partners (Habito, Action Net Zero and Eco Approach) and Innovate UK accept no liability for the works carried out by third party suppliers.

4. Data Sharing:

4.1 Participants agree to share data, including real-time information such as temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, and smart meter data, for a duration of 12 months from the point of installation of smart home devices. We may also use historic smart meter data This data will be used to measure the impact of the energy-efficient improvements.

4.2 This is a research and development project so data may be anonymised and published publicly. Aggregated data may also be shared with partners that enabled you access to the Project.

5. Other Terms of Use:

5.1 Participants acknowledge that the use of the Propflo platform, including tools such as HomeHub and GreenVal retrofit, is subject to separate terms of use. Participants will need to use these tools in the project and by using these tools, participants agree to comply with those specific terms.

5.2 We expect participants to engage actively in the project which may include completing short feedback forms.

6. Termination of Participation:

6.1 The Project reserves the right to terminate a participant’s involvement if there is a breach of these terms and conditions.

6.2 In the event of early termination (i.e. before improvements are installed) or termination due to abuse of the Project terms, participants, at the discretion of the project lead, will be required to return incentives (such as smart home devices) at their own cost or make an equivalent payment.

7. Governing Law:

7.1 These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

7.2 These terms do not affect your statutory rights.

By agreeing to these terms and conditions, participants explicitly consent to the terms outlined above, including data sharing and the separate terms of use for Propflo platform tools. Participants also acknowledge the limited liability of the Project and Propflo in connection with the works carried out by accredited suppliers.
